Microsoft unveiled its Windows 10 build for phones and tablets at an event last month and as promised, the very first preview build is live now. The first build of Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones has arrived on select Windows Phones.

The first build of the Windows 10 Preview for Phones is an early build, so you can expect a lot of bugs and unfinished UX and Microsoft has listed a full list of issues known to them in their blog. Not all the features that were announced have made it to the first build though. The first build brings the new full size background wallpaper for the Start Screen, more toggles or quick actions in the Action Center. There’s interactive notifications, enhanced speech-to-text capability and the new Photos app, which aggregates all the local and OneDrive photos. Other features like the new Universal apps and more will arrive in the next build.

The preview build is available for the Lumia 630, 635, 636, 638, 730 and 830 and Microsoft promises that the device list will expand over time. The high-end flagships like the Lumia 930 and 1520 are missing out and the company says that’s because “the bigger phones have very tight OS partitions” and they are working on a new feature called “partition stitching”, which will adjust the OS partition automatically.

Microsoft have released such an early build for Windows 10 for phones for feedback and users will be able to send feedback through the Feedback app. If you want to try the Windows 10 Preview for Phones, you’ll need to register at Windows Insider Program and then install the Windows Insider app and check for preview builds. So, tell us if you install the latest Windows build on your phones and tell us, how you like it?
