Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), the state owned telecom operator, has announced free roaming service to all its customers in India. With the new service in effect, MTNL customers from Mumbai and Delhi can avail free incoming on roaming anywhere in India. The announcement was made by Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Further, the Minister also announced that the government would install Wi-Fi hotspots at 2500 locations in different parts of the country by March 2016. He also remotely inaugurated Wi-Fi hotspots at ‘Har Ki Pauri’ in Haridwar and Dargah Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan. The other state-run operator BSNL already offers free national roaming.
