After starting the scheme of providing computers to students, the Goa Government has now started the initiative to provide students with tablets and notebooks to students. Striving to achieve a 100 percent computer literacy rate in Goa, these measures are supposed to help in improving the quality of education in Goa.
As per a report by IANS, the Goa Government education department would provide students of class V and VII with free tablets to help them in their curriculum. The tablets will be loaded with special e-learning packages which will be based on the syllabus followed by Goa Board. The software would enable a student to revise their tuitions at home thus saving a lot of time for the students.
To prevent misuse, the tablets will be preloaded with security systems to ensure that the devices are not used for pornographic purposes and other controversial web applications. The students would have to pay a meagre Rs.25 for the processing of the application. Students from reserved categories would have to pay just Rs.10.
Also, the students of eleventh standard would be provided with free notebooks, replacing the earlier desktop computers. The state government has made arrangements for purchasing nearly 50,000 notebooks and tablet PCs for the scheme.
