KRAFTON India has officially announced the return of Ocean Odyssey, an underwater-themed gameplay mode set beneath Erangel, as part of the upcoming 4.6 update for BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI).
The mode will go live on September 30, 2026, two weeks after the initial rollout of the 4.6 patch, and will remain available until November 16, 2026. BGMI 4.6 update also brings Midnight Hunters Supernatural Mode to Erangel on September 16.
Ocean Odyssey Returns Based On Player Demand
The return of Ocean Odyssey is part of KRAFTON India’s broader strategy of bringing back popular retired gameplay modes based on sustained community interest. The publisher previously followed a similar approach with the return of Erangel: Ancient Secrets.
Instead of introducing an entirely new concept, Ocean Odyssey revisits one of BGMI’s major departures from traditional land-based battle royale gameplay, introducing underwater environments, hazards, and unique gameplay mechanics to Erangel.
Ocean Odyssey Gameplay & Features
Ocean Odyssey introduces several aquatic zones and special locations across Erangel.
The Ocean Palace: A submerged ancient structure protected by the Sea Suppressor, an environmental barrier that creates a temporary dry pocket for exploration and combat. When the suppressor fails, the structure begins flooding with water, forcing players to escape before they drown or become trapped.
The Trident: Located at the center of the Ocean Palace and guarded by the Kraken, the legendary Trident can summon water spouts that launch opposing players across the area.
The Forsaken Ruins: An additional point of interest featuring high-tier loot, including equipment that is rarely available in standard match configurations.
The re-release gives existing players another opportunity to experience the established underwater gameplay while allowing newer BGMI players to experience Ocean Odyssey for the first time.
