Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleDolby Laboratories has partnered with LA Cinema to launch Tamil Nadu’s first Dolby Cinema, located in Thiruverumbur, Trichy. The premium auditorium officially opened to the public on 24th April, debuting with the screening of Michael. This marks the fourth Dolby Cinema in India, expanding premium theatrical experiences into regional markets. Last year, Dolby Cinema made its India debut at City Pride, Pune.
The auditorium is equipped with Dolby Vision projection, offering:
- Higher brightness levels
- Enhanced contrast with deeper blacks
- Wider color gamut compared to standard projection
The cinema also integrates Dolby Atmos, delivering:
- Multi-dimensional sound placement
- Overhead audio channels
- Precise spatial audio movement
The venue has been purpose-built for Dolby Cinema standards:
- Wall-to-wall-to-ceiling curved screen
- Advanced acoustic engineering
- Distraction-free interior design
- Optimized seating layout for uniform viewing and sound
The launch reflects a growing demand for premium cinema formats beyond metro cities in India.

- Over 860 films globally have been released or are confirmed in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos formats
This indicates a strong pipeline of content compatible with high-end theatrical technology.
