Almost everyone has a Gmail address nowadays, especially if he/she owns an Android device. Almost everyone has used Gmail’s app and most of them swear by its features. You can already access your non-gmail accounts like Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail/Outlook.com in Gmail app on Android. Google has now went a step further and has introduced a new feature called ‘Gmailify’ which lets you enjoy Gmail’s features on non-gmail accounts.

Features like spam protection, inbox organization and other advanced search features are liked by many but don’t want to leave their non-gmail accounts and go through all the hassles that are connected with the change of an email address. Hence, starting from today, Google will now let you make use of these Gmail features even if you don’t have a Gmail address.

“Gmailify links your existing account to Gmail so that you get all the bells and whistles—spam protection, inbox organization and even Google Now cards based on your mail—without having to leave your current address behind.” wrote Google on its blog.

In order to be able to use the Gmailify feature, all you have to do is sign in to your non-gmail account from the Gmail app and enable Gmailify. Head on to this support page to learn how to enable the Gmailify feature. You can always use your non-gmail account through Gmail’s app even without having to use the Gmailify feature.

As of now only Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail/Outlook.com are supported, but Google plans to add Gmailify support for other email providers as well.
