When it comes to using the Maps on Windows Phone 7 devices users are left with using just the Bing Maps on other manufacturers and Nokia Maps on Lumia smartphones.

But there are many users out there who still prefer Google Maps over the available options (including me). And for all of us, gMaps Pro is the app that comes to our rescue.

The gMaps Pro app has just received an important update, taking the app to version 1.26 and brigs in various new features like Public Transit, Improved Driver Mode and more.

Now users of the gMaps Pro will be able to enjoy Public Transit information and directions on their Windows Phone 7 device and also see that the navigation is vastly improved.

The Driver Mode is much improved and now includes separate speed indicator, start/stop/reroute buttons, partially visible route line fix, reset speed if stopped, and a feature to automatically stop navigation if destination reached. Now users can also choose alternative routes while travelling to a destination.

The app now supports the much-needed Zoom out on “two finger double tap” gesture which helps in easy usage of the app while travelling and also brings in a new compass engine.

gMaps Pro is available for $1.99 in the Windows Phone Store and arrives with an option to try and buy. So if you wish to try and buy the app, head over to the WP Store using the widget below.
