Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleGoogle has announced the global availability of Gemini on Android Auto and cars with Google built-in. The company is also rolling out Personal Intelligence with Gemini, starting with Android Auto, with availability on cars with Google built-in planned for the coming months.
With the user’s permission, Personal Intelligence connects information from Google services, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube, and Search, to provide personalized responses during in-car conversations.

Gemini Personal Intelligence Features
Personal Intelligence can retrieve details from emails, photos, and places saved in Google Maps, reason across multiple sources, and answer questions using relevant personal context. It also supports natural voice interactions for brainstorming ideas while driving.
Google has outlined several examples of how the feature can be used in the car.
- Check flight details: Gemini can retrieve a flight’s gate information from an email and provide an update on whether the flight is on time.
- Find restaurants based on preferences: Drivers can ask Gemini to find restaurants along their route that match their preferences, including indoor dining options. For example, vegetarian users can request a shortlist of suitable places.
- Navigate to appointments: Gemini can locate an appointment destination, such as a doctor’s office, and provide navigation without requiring the driver to remember or search for the street address.
- Find places from photos: Drivers can ask Gemini to identify a car wash shown in a previously taken photo and navigate to that location.
- Return to previously discussed places: Gemini can use conversation context to find a coffee shop discussed the previous day and provide directions.
Privacy & Personal Intelligence Settings
Personal Intelligence requires users to choose which apps to connect. The feature can be turned off at any time through Gemini settings.
On cars with Google built-in, personalized responses are available only when the user is in the car with their phone connected.
Without Personal Intelligence, Gemini can still support standard in-car tasks, including navigation, music playback, calls, and answering questions. However, responses will not be tailored using the user’s personal information.
