The new laptop category is designed around Google’s Gemini Intelligence, with a focus on AI-powered productivity, Android connectivity and native Android applications. Dell and HP are among the first manufacturers bringing Snapdragon X Elite-powered Googlebook devices to market, with their respective models now available for pre-order.
Googlebook Brings Gemini Intelligence To Laptops
Googlebook is a new laptop category combining Google’s Android ecosystem with elements of the ChromeOS experience. It is designed to provide native Android app support while keeping users connected with their Android smartphones.
With Snapdragon X Elite, Googlebook combines the platform’s CPU, GPU and Hexagon NPU capabilities with Gemini Intelligence for AI-assisted workflows. Qualcomm says the platform is designed to deliver responsive performance, efficiency and on-device AI capabilities.
Native Android Apps & Cross-Device Features
One of the key aspects of Googlebook is its integration with Android devices. Users can access native Android applications and games directly on the laptop, while supported features allow the laptop and Android smartphone to work together more closely.
Googlebook also introduces features such as Cast My Apps, Magic Pointer and Rambler. These tools are designed to help users interact with Gemini, move between devices and use information from sources such as emails, calendars and on-screen content. Magic Pointer, for example, allows users to activate Gemini by interacting with the pointer, while Rambler provides enhanced voice-to-text functionality that can remove filler words and automatically add formatting.
Snapdragon X Elite Powers The First Googlebooks
Qualcomm says Snapdragon X Elite brings a combination of performance, power efficiency and AI processing to Googlebook. The platform’s NPU is designed for on-device AI workloads, while Snapdragon’s connectivity and efficiency are intended to support all-day mobile computing.
The Snapdragon-powered Googlebooks also support Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including technologies designed to improve frame rates and graphics in supported games.
Dell and HP Googlebook Models
Dell has introduced the XPS Googlebook, a 13-inch premium laptop powered by Snapdragon X Elite. It features a 2.5K InfinityEdge touchscreen, an aluminum chassis and up to 32 GB LPDDR5X memory. Dell claims up to 16 hours of Netflix streaming battery life under its specified test conditions.
HP’s Googlebook 14 also uses Snapdragon X Elite and is available with up to a 3K OLED touchscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, up to 32 GB of memory and up to 1 TB of storage. The Dell XPS Googlebook starts at $999 in the US, while Dell says availability on Dell.com begins in October.
Designed For Android Users
Googlebook is positioned around users who already use Android smartphones and want closer integration between their phone and laptop. Supported functionality includes accessing phone files, photos and applications from the laptop and continuing tasks across devices.
The Snapdragon X Elite-powered models from Dell and HP represent the first wave of Googlebook devices using Qualcomm’s laptop platform, expanding Snapdragon’s presence beyond Windows-based PCs into Google’s new laptop ecosystem.
