Ever been busy with something and received a phone call? Well then you must have felt the need to quickly put your phone in silent mode. Whenever we receive a phone call, we use the volume key to silent the phone ringer.
There are some smartphones that come with a feature which lets you quickly mute the phone calls by turning the phone upside down. This is not a new feature though, but a useful one. I had this on my budget Android smartphone way back in 2012 as well. But, if you happen to be one of those who have a smartphone which doesn’t boast off this functionality, then worry not as we show you how to put your phone in silent mode by turning it upside down with this tutorial.
How to put your phone in silent mode by turning it upside down
Step 1: First of all, you need to download the ‘Tasker‘ app from Google Play Store. After that, go to Settings > Accessibility > Tasker and enable the Tasker app. This is required in order for Tasker to function properly.
Step 2: Now, open the Tasker app and tap on the ‘+‘ button provided at the bottom in the ‘Profiles‘ tab. After that, select ‘State‘.
Now tap on ‘Sensor‘ from the State category and ‘Orientation‘ from Sensor State category.
After that, you will be taken to the ‘State Edit’ menu of Orientation. There, tap on the drop-down list provided and select ‘Face Down‘. Now press the back button of your device once.
Step 3: Pressing the back button will take you to the main menu of Tasker where you will be asked to add ‘New Task‘. Tap on the ‘New Task’ and provide a name to the new task. We gave the name ‘Silent Phone’, but as always, you can give the one you like.
Step 4: Adding a new task will take you to the ‘Task Edit’ menu of that task. Tap on the ‘+‘ button located at the bottom of the screen and then select ‘Audio‘ from Action category and ‘Silent Mode‘ from Audio Action category.
You will then be taken to the ‘Action Edit’ menu of Silent Mode where you need to set the Mode to ‘Vibrate‘.
Press the back button of your device twice after you have set the Mode to ‘Vibrate’.
That’s it. You are done. The ‘Orientation Face Down‘ is the Tasker profile here and ‘Silent Phone‘ is the task linked to this profile.
