While we can never cease to complain about the trains not being on time, Indian Railways has now planned on alerting the passengers via message to avoid inconvenience.

According to the plans by Indian Railways, a series of personalised services would be introduced to make traveling by trains easier. These services, which include message alerts if train is delayed/cancelled and even wake-up calls, would be provided in collaboration with RailYatri.in.

In the meanwhile, the IT arm of Indian Railways, Centre of Railway Information Systems (CRIS) and RailYatri are working on a smartphone app to provide real-time information on the position of trains and predictions on their expected time of arrival in different stations. The app would be first launched on the Android platform considering the user base and would be soon followed by other platforms in the next few months.
