Jolla partners with D.Phone to sell its MeeGo devices in China

Jolla, the startup which has taken the responsibility of taking ahead the MeeGo OS after Nokia left it mid-way has today announced a giant leap ahead.
Though the company hasn’t announced any device on MeeGo until now, they have signed an agreement for Sales and Distribution agreement with D.Phone Group, which is the largest mobile phone retail chain in China. D.Phone has a network of over 2000 retail stores which it uses to reach the consumers.

Now this step by Jolla is indeed a great one as it has secured a place in the world’s largest mobile market without even unveiling the device. This can indeed act as a boost for the company and the team which is working with all their hearts out for keeping the lovely MeeGo platform alive.
Mr. Donghai Liu, Founder and CEO of D.Phone Group said, “We see great potential for Jolla as a new player in the Chinese smartphone market with Jolla’s fresh and unique user experience. Together with Jolla our aim is to reach significant sales volumes.”
“China has the largest and most rapidly expanding smartphone market in the world. This agreement with D.Phone is a major step in Jolla’s journey towards becoming a significant player in the global smartphone market,” said Dr. Antti Saarnio, Chairman of Jolla Ltd.
