LAVA has expanded its entry-level smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the LAVA Smart 4, following the launch of the LAVA Smart 4 Plus. Positioned as an affordable smartphone for first-time buyers and young users, the device focuses on essential smartphone features, long battery life, expandable storage, and added durability. Priced at ₹8,499, key highlights include a 5,000 mAh battery, 90 Hz display, MIL-STD-810H Military Grade design, Android 16 Go Edition, and more.
The LAVA Smart 4 features a 6.56-inch qHD LCD display with a 90 Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling and animations compared to conventional 60 Hz panels. The display has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and is designed to provide a basic viewing experience for everyday activities such as browsing, social media, video playback, and messaging.
The smartphone is powered by the UNISOC SC9863A octa-core SoC, featuring eight cores clocked at up to 1.6 GHz and paired with a PowerVR IMG8322 GPU. The processor is accompanied by 3 GB of RAM, with support for an additional 3 GB of virtual RAM through RAM expansion. For storage, the device comes with 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 512 GB using a microSD card. The LAVA Smart 4 packs a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 10W charging through a USB Type-C port.
The smartphone comes with MIL-STD-810H Military Grade certification, offering additional protection against everyday environmental stresses. Biometric authentication is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device comes in Konark Gold and Ajanta Grey color options.
On the software front, the LAVA Smart 4 runs Android 16 Go Edition, Google’s lightweight version of Android designed for entry-level smartphones with limited hardware resources. The software is optimized to provide a smoother experience on devices with lower memory and storage capacities.
For photography, the smartphone features an 8 MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash, while selfies and video calls are handled by a 5 MP front camera. Other features include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, FM Radio, bottom-ported speaker, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a dual Nano SIM configuration with a dedicated microSD card slot.
