Xiaomi India has officially introduced its smart home and lifestyle sub-brand, Mijia by Xiaomi, in India as the company marks 12 years of operations in the country. The move expands Xiaomi’s growing AIoT ecosystem and reflects the company’s broader strategy of strengthening its presence in the smart home segment alongside smartphones, tablets, Smart TVs, wearables, and connected devices.
Since entering the Indian market in 2014, Xiaomi has steadily evolved from a smartphone-focused company into a broader consumer technology brand. With the launch of Mijia by Xiaomi, the company is now bringing its globally recognized smart home ecosystem under a dedicated identity in India, joining the existing Xiaomi, REDMI, and POCO brands.
According to Xiaomi, Mijia, which translates to “Mi Home,” will serve as the company’s dedicated home and lifestyle brand, covering smart home appliances, AIoT products, and connected lifestyle devices designed to work seamlessly within the Xiaomi ecosystem.
The launch also aligns with Xiaomi’s global “Human x Car x Home” strategy, introduced in 2023. Powered by Xiaomi HyperOS, the strategy focuses on creating a unified ecosystem that connects personal devices, smart vehicles, and home appliances into a single intelligent platform. While Xiaomi India has already established a strong presence in the personal technology segment, the introduction of Mijia represents a significant step toward expanding its smart home ecosystem in the country.
As part of the transition, Xiaomi India confirmed that its existing home lifestyle products, including smart air purifiers and other connected appliances, will gradually move under the Mijia by Xiaomi branding. The company also plans to expand into the large home appliances category in India through the new sub-brand, although specific products have not yet been announced.
Regarding this, Sudhin Mathur, Chief Operating Officer, Xiaomi India, said, “Over the past 12 years, Xiaomi has continuously evolved alongside Indian consumers, expanding from smartphones into a broader consumer technology portfolio. The introduction of Mijia by Xiaomi marks an important milestone in strengthening the Home dimension of our global Human × Car × Home strategy in India and reflects our long-term commitment to the market. As we deepen our presence in the category, our focus is on making connected ecosystem more intelligent, intuitive and seamless, bringing Xiaomi’s global smart living experience to more homes across India.”
Xiaomi says all products launched under the Mijia by Xiaomi brand will continue to integrate with Xiaomi HyperOS, enabling seamless connectivity and interoperability with the company’s broader ecosystem of smartphones, tablets, wearables, Smart TVs, and other AIoT devices.
The company believes growing consumer demand for connected home devices and integrated ecosystems makes this an important step in strengthening its long-term presence in India’s smart home market.
