Micromax has been pretty notorious for not bringing the latest Android updates to its Canvas line of smartphones but the company might now be trying to rectify things. The Indian smartphone brand has revealed that it is now rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Canvas Express.

Micromax Canvas Express

It’s important to note that MediaTek recently brought Android 5.0 Lollipop support to its MT6582 chipset, which runs a number of smartphones including the Micromax Canvas Express. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is one of the major overhauls of the OS since its incarnation and we are glad that Micromax is bringing the update to its devices.

Micromax has also promised that it will be updating its other Canvas devices to Lollipop but we don’t have concrete information on the time frame when we can expect the update.

The Micromax spokesperson commented, “As a brand, we are committed to keep our customers delighted with best in class technologies and experience. Riding on the same thought, we are today rolling out the Android L update with Canvas Xpress, making the overall user experience more efficient and seamless. Micromax thrives on consumer centricity and that is clearly visible through the company’s continued growth trajectory and high recall in consumer mind share.”

The Lollipop update is available for the Canvas Express as an over the air (OTA) update. The update should reach the Canvas Express devices anytime now, so we’ll suggest Canvas Express users to keep checking for updates in Settings – About – Software Updates. Once you receive the update, do tell us how you like it.
