MTS , the telecom service of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, today announced that they are the first operator in India to offer call rates of ½ paise per second for lifetime on all local and national outgoing calls made to any telecom network in the country.  This sounds exciting but there is a catch, discussed later in the article.

The ½ paise call rates are for both new and existing subscribers. New subscribers can enjoy these low call rates with FRC 203 and existing subscribers need to recharge with Rs. 191 voucher to enjoy the same. Both the recharges offer talktime of Rs. 50.

MTS customers can continue using this tariff benefit for lifetime by doing a cumulative usage/recharge of Rs. 900 over a period of six months (So, if you do not get recharge of this amount in a every six months you will be shifted to base tariff).  MTS has also introduced an Auto Renewal Process for this and to make it convenient for the customers, this cumulative recharge can be in the form of recharge vouchers for Voice or SMS usage.

If you are thinking that you will get your Mobile recharged with Rs. 900 every 6 months to enjoy these call rates then let us also share that under Fair Usage Policy (FUP)MTS will offer ½ paise per second call rate for only  400 STD Minutes/month, thereafter base tariff will be applicable.

Those who do not like read much, here is the short summary of the above offers

  • Existing User – Recharge with Rs. 191 (Validity 6 months)
  • New User – Recharge with Rs. 203 (Validity 6 months)
  • Validity will be automatically renewed if user will get cumulative recharge of Rs. 900 or more (Recharge vouchers for Voice or SMS)
  • Capping of 400 STD Minutes/month under fair usage policy, thereafter base tariff will be applicable.
