Nokia X2 Android smartphone with a 4.3-inch display, 1 GB RAM unveiled

As expected, Microsoft has just unveiled the brand new Nokia X2, the successor to the Nokia X, which was launched earlier this year. The Nokia X2 seems like a worthy upgrade and Microsoft seems to have addressed all the issues that plagued the Nokia X.

The Nokia X2 comes with the crystal design, we first saw in some of the Asha devices, which incorporates cool translucent outer layer, making it really shine. It packs in a 4.3-inch ClearBlack display of WVGA (800x480p) resolution. The affordable smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1 GB RAM. There’s 4 GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 32 GB.

The Nokia X2 features a 5 MP rear camera with an LED flash along with a 0.3 MP front facing camera. The devices comes with Nokia X Platform 2.0 on top of AOSP Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The interface has been revamped and now, the device features a home button as well. A long press to the back button will take you to the multitasking screen. There’s double tap to wake as well. You can also choose the color of the tiles on the homescreen through a new color picker. Along with that, it comes with all the notable Microsoft services and apps and Nokia’s HERE maps suite. A 1800 mAh battery is packed in the device.

Similar to the Nokia X, the X2 comes with dual SIM connectivity with dual standby. Other connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n,Bluetooth and GPS.

The Nokia X2 will come in a cool range of colors including glossy green, orange and black, with glossy yellow, white and matt dark grey. The device is available immediately in select countries globally and it’ll be priced at around 99 Euros (~Rs. 8,090) before taxes and subsidies.

While we weren’t really impressed with the Nokia X but the Nokia X2 seems to be decent device for its price. It packs some good enough specs and we surely would like to know more on its performance. Microsoft seems to have heard all the complaints around the Nokia X and they seem to have fixed all the issues. The Nokia X2 could surely give the Moto E a good competition, what’d you say?
