What’s New In ColorOS 17?
ColorOS 17 introduces Living Flow Design, built around Luminous Effect, Fluid Motion, and Flexible Feedback. The interface uses translucent visual layers, dynamic lighting, continuous transitions, and more responsive animations to make everyday interactions feel smoother.
OnePlus has also introduced the Luminous Rendering Engine with a Unified Rendering Architecture and an upgraded Laminar Flow Engine. According to the company’s laboratory tests, these improvements reduce rendering loads by up to 30%, lower rendering-related RAM usage by up to 25%, improve app launch stability by 55%, and enable Gallery thumbnails to load up to 50% faster on first launch. The system can also keep over 25% more apps running in the background.
The update expands OnePlus AI with AI Mind Pilot and Agent Mode, AI Photo Agent with Style Match, AI Mind Space, AI Mind Suggest, and OSee visual AI. These features support multi-step tasks, file and photo organisation, contextual photo editing, personal information management, travel planning, object recognition, translation, and nutritional analysis.
For security, ColorOS 17 includes AI Call Guard for detecting potential call fraud, a Private Computing Cloud with encryption protections for cloud-based AI processing, and a Transparency Report that lets users review and export records of AI service activity.
OnePlus also claims that ColorOS 17 retains over 90% of its initial smoothness in tests simulating six years of use, even with storage at 90% capacity. Actual performance may vary depending on the device, software optimisation, network conditions, and usage.
OxygenOS To ColorOS Transition
OnePlus says the transition to ColorOS is intended to streamline software development, accelerate update delivery, improve software quality, and make better use of shared engineering and R&D resources.
ColorOS 17 will debut on the OnePlus 15, with additional smartphones and tablets receiving the update progressively according to the announced schedule.
