The handset has a stainless steel body with a hand-polished micro-arc frame. The device has a 5.2 inch AMOLED display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone is powered by the octa core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

The Oppo R5 has a 13 MP rear facing auto focus camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, Schneider lens and LED flash. There is also a front facing 5 MP camera. The device runs on the latest Color OS, which is based on the Android KitKat with a 2000 mAh battery. The handset is priced at Rs. 29990 and would be available for pre-booking on January 1, 2015.

Speaking about the Oppo R5, Tom Lu, CEO, OPPO India, said, “This phone has been developed with the end user in mind. We used cutting edge manufacturing techniques to create a phone that fits perfectly into the users’ hands, and that feels incredible. The frame has been forged nine times and then finished by hand to give a perfect sheen and feel. It has a quality that is not available anywhere else in the industry.
