Xiaomi India is all set to launch its latest performance-focused smartphone – the REDMI Turbo 5 in India, scheduled to debut tomorrow, i.e., 16th June. The upcoming smartphone is positioned as a high-performance offering aimed at users looking for flagship-level speed, gaming capabilities, advanced cooling, and ultra-fast charging technologies. Xiaomi is promoting the smartphone under the tagline, “Fast isn’t just a feature anymore. It’s the default,” highlighting the device’s focus on raw performance, memory speeds, and overall responsiveness.
The REDMI Turbo 5 is expected to sit among Xiaomi’s most aggressive performance-centric offerings, bringing together the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra SoC, LPDDR5X Ultra Memory, UFS 4.1 Storage, Adaptive 120 Hz Fluid Display, 100W HyperCharge, advanced cooling technologies, and a large 6,500 mAh battery. On paper, it appears to be a smartphone designed specifically for gamers, power users, and enthusiasts who demand flagship-grade performance without stepping into ultra-premium pricing territory. While we are awaiting the official launch event for final pricing and variant details, here’s how our early impressions unfold based our hands-on observations.

Design, Display & Build Quality
The REDMI Turbo 5 leaves a strong first impression with its clean and modern design. Unlike many gaming-oriented smartphones that lean heavily into aggressive aesthetics, Xiaomi has opted for a more refined and mature appearance. The matte-finished glass back, aerospace-grade metal middle frame, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection give the device a contemporary flagship feel, while the minimalist rear panel keeps things visually clean. From our initial look at the device, the flat-frame construction and compact size should make the REDMI Turbo 5 comfortable to hold for prolonged periods.
One of the standout design elements is the vertically aligned dual-camera setup surrounded by distinctive multi-color accent rings. These LED rings subtly reinforce the device’s performance-focused identity without appearing overly flashy. The rear panel design looks sleek and modern, while the flat frame should provide a comfortable grip during extended gaming sessions and everyday use.
The REDMI Turbo 5 offers IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, providing protection against dust, water immersion, water jets, and harsh environmental conditions. The front side is equipped with an Adaptive 120 Hz Fluid Display with 1.5K Resolution, likely a 6.59-inch 12-bit AMOLED, emphasizing smoothness, responsiveness, and efficiency as key pillars of the viewing experience. Also, the 1.5K Resolution should offer noticeably sharper visuals compared to traditional Full HD+ panels.

The biggest highlight of the REDMI Turbo 5 is undoubtedly its MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra SoC, which Xiaomi positions as a flagship-grade performance platform designed for demanding workloads. The chipset is paired with high-speed LPDDR5X Ultra Memory and UFS 4.1 Storage to deliver faster application launches, reduced loading times, improved multitasking performance, and smoother gaming experiences.
It supports up to 24 GB RAM, including up to 12 GB virtual RAM expansion depending on the variant. Combined with LPDDR5X Ultra Memory and UFS 4.1 Storage, the REDMI Turbo 5 should be capable of handling demanding multitasking workloads, intensive gaming sessions, and heavy application usage with ease. The GPU on the chip is expected to be ARM Mali-G720 MP8 (8-core, ~1.3 GHz to 1.5 GHz). During our initial experience, the device appears focused on delivering fast and consistent responsiveness across all usage scenarios.
To ensure sustained performance, the REDMI Turbo 5 comes with its latest 3D IceLoop cooling system. The cooling architecture includes a large 5,300 mm² vapor chamber cooling solution designed to efficiently dissipate heat generated during gaming sessions, prolonged camera usage, and intensive multitasking. Xiaomi’s focus on advanced cooling suggests the REDMI Turbo 5 is being positioned as a serious gaming and performance device.
Battery endurance is expected to be another major strength of the REDMI Turbo 5. The smartphone features a large 7,540 mAh battery, which is the biggest battery on any REDMI smartphone yet, and it should comfortably support all-day heavy usage, gaming, streaming, productivity tasks, and content creation. Adding to the large battery is support for 100W HyperCharge for rapid charging.
Cameras & Sample Shots
The REDMI Turbo 5 features a dual rear camera setup headlined by a 50 MP primary camera equipped with both Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The primary camera is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide camera for landscape photography and wider compositions. On the front, the smartphone features a 20 MP selfie camera designed for video calls, social media content creation, and self-portraits.

The stabilization hardware should help improve low-light photography, handheld video recording, and overall image consistency. Meanwhile, the ultra-wide camera adds flexibility for travel, architecture, and group photography. We got some samples to show you how the camera performs, and the results are very positive. At this stage, we have yet to fully evaluate image quality, dynamic range, low-light performance, portrait capabilities, and video recording performance. Xiaomi has not yet officially revealed the complete software experience for the Indian variant of the REDMI Turbo 5. However, the smartphone is expected to run the latest version of Xiaomi’s software ecosystem – HyperOS 3 with various AI-powered features, optimization tools, and gaming enhancements. More information regarding software features, AI capabilities, update commitments, and ecosystem integrations will be announced during launch, and we will cover it in the full review.
Early Verdict – REDMI Turbo 5 First Impressions
Based on everything Xiaomi has revealed so far, the REDMI Turbo 5 appears to be shaping up as a compelling performance-focused smartphone. The combination of the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra, LPDDR5X Ultra Memory, UFS 4.1 Storage, 3D IceLoop cooling system, and a large 7,540 mAh battery with 100W HyperCharge fast charging creates a package that should appeal strongly to gamers and power users. The addition of flagship-grade durability through IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, coupled with a matte glass + metal design, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and clean design language, further enhances the overall package.
From our initial impressions, the REDMI Turbo 5 feels like Xiaomi’s attempt to bring flagship-grade speed, thermal management, battery endurance, and gaming-focused performance to a wider audience. We’ll be testing the cameras, gaming performance, battery life, charging speeds, and overall day-to-day experience in greater detail soon, but based on our early hands-on experience, the REDMI Turbo 5 leaves a strong first impression as a performance-focused smartphone designed for users who prioritize speed, gaming, endurance, and flagship-grade responsiveness.
