Reliance is really going after the telecom operators directly or indirectly as it inches closer to the launch of Jio 4G services. Reliance Jio already enjoys a huge user base even before the commercial launch. However, the company has now asked its employees to stop using Airtel and switch to Jio.

Until now, Reliance was subscribed to Airtel’s Corporate Plans for its employees, however, the company has now asked its employees to stop using Airtel and switch to Jio through MNP (mobile number portability).

Reliance employees have until August 24 to port out as their Airtel connections will be disconnected from August 24. This move from Reliance can incur huge loss to Airtel. Reliance Industries had subscribed to Airtel’s corporate plan which charged ₹50/month as rental because of which Reliance Industries were paying around ₹50 Crores to Airtel annually.

Even though Reliance has decided to discontinue Airtel’s mobile subscription, there has been no news whether Airtel’s landline services will be discontinued as well or not. Reliance Jio 4G services which are expected to launch commercially soon have already worried other telecom operators.

The Jio Preview Offer is also now extended to all the 4G smartphones which means the company will be getting more users before the service is commercially launched. Have you availed yourself the Reliance Jio Preview offer? If yes, how has been your experience?
