Reliance Industries is said to have struck a deal with the Indian unit of Walt Disney, to acquire content for its telecom operations. Disney has a 50.44% stake in UTV Software which has been the direct link of the deal with Reliance.

The partnership will boost up Reliance’s telecom operations as they will now have access to games, entertainment and children’s content. The company also has plans of building a data-focused business which will provide mobile, smartphone, tablet and computer users access to the net and online related services via a wireless broadband network. Mobile content has become a priority for mobile operators as it attracts a lot of customers and according to researches and surveys people spend more time on entertainment rather than texting and calling.
