Samsung unveils Galaxy J5 (2016) and J7 (2016)

The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and J7 (2016) were spotted on TENAA earlier this month which meant that their China launch was imminent. After being certified by TENAA, the Galaxy J5 (2016) and J7 (2016) are now being launched by Samsung in China.

The specs of these new phones are similar to the A5 (2016) and A7 (2016). However, unlike the gorilla glass and metal frame combo on the A series, the J5 (2016) and J7 (2016) feature a plastic back along with metal frame.

The J5 (2016) is powered by a quad-core processor which is accompanied by 2 GB RAM. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and a 3100 mAh battery keeps the entire package running. It has 16 GB internal storage and external storage can be expanded using a microSD card.

Talking about the J7 (2016), it comes with octa-core processor and 3 GB RAM. The J7 (2016) runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. We hope Samsung upgrades these phones to Android Marshmallow. The J7 (2016) has a 3300 mAh battery which is slightly bigger than J5 (2016). It comes with 16 GB internal storage and the external storage can be expanded anytime using a microSD card.

The J5 (2016) is priced at CNY 1398 which is around Rs. 14,300. Whereas, the J7 (2016) is priced at CNY 1898 which is around Rs. 19,400. As of now, there’s no information regarding the availability of these phones outside China.
