Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleWhatsApp is reportedly working on a redesigned settings menu for Android, introducing rounded containers to group related options. The new interface is said to follow Google’s Material Design 3 Expressive guidelines and could extend to settings pages such as Account, Privacy and Notifications.

The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.43.3. However, the redesigned menu remains under development and is not yet available to beta testers.

WhatsApp Settings Menu Redesign: What’s Changing?

According to WABetaInfo, the redesigned interface groups related settings inside rounded containers instead of displaying them as one continuous list.

The first and last options in each group feature rounder corners, while the options in between fit together within the same container. This segmented layout visually separates different groups of settings and makes it easier to identify where one section ends and another begins.

The design reportedly follows Google’s Material Design 3 Expressive guidelines, which influence interface elements such as lists, buttons, and navigation bars in Android apps. The shape of each setting item changes according to its position within a group.

Redesign Could Extend To Other Settings Pages

The new design is expected to appear across multiple WhatsApp settings pages, including Account, Privacy and Notifications. This means the changes may go beyond the main settings menu and affect how users navigate individual sections.

WhatsApp has not confirmed the redesign or announced a release date.

WhatsApp Is Also Testing Other Interface Changes

The redesigned settings menu is not the only interface update reportedly in development for WhatsApp on Android.

The app is also testing a bottom navigation bar that reportedly shrinks into a small pill when users scroll down and expands again when they scroll up. A redesigned chat bar is also reportedly in the works.

These changes remain in development, and WhatsApp has not shared a timeline for their public release.
