Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone company, has now sold 3 Million units of the Redmi 3S series smartphones in India. Not just that, the company is also the second largest smartphone vendor in India now.

Back in November last year, Xiaomi had unveiled that it had sold 2 Million smartphones in India between July and September 2016. Well, the company has now unveiled that it has sold 3 Million units of the Redmi 3S series smartphones in India in less than 6 months. These include the Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime and Redmi 3s+.

Not just that, Xiaomi is also the second largest smartphone vendor in India now, and only trails the South Korean giant, Samsung. “Product is at the core of Xiaomi’s strategy, and a strong line-up of products with distinctive technological innovations has been critical in driving our India story. This has been supported with robust operational growth through improvements in our online and offline sales structure, hiring of key talent, expansion of our customer care and after-sales service, and increasing our manufacturing capacity.” said Mr. Manu Jain, MD, Xiaomi India.

“Our great results in 2016 were made possible because of the love from our Mi Fans who have driven our success to new heights. We are committed to sustaining the momentum and will continue to launch amazing products here in India.” Mr. Jain further added.

It’s needless to say that Xiaomi’s budget smartphones played a key role in increasing the company’s share in Indian smartphone market. Smartphones like the Redmi 3S series, Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 provide good value for money as compared to the competition. Can Xiaomi topple Samsung off the first spot in the Indian market? Well, we can only wait and see. However, if Samsung continues to provide lackluster hardware in the budget segment with key sensors missing, we won’t be surprised if Xiaomi replaces Samsung in the Indian market.
