While we already knew that TweetDeck is soon going to be dead, a new official announcement confirms the day the popular app would be then removed from the various app stores.

According to the announcement from TweetDeck, the app for Android and iOS would cease to function on May 7, after which it will be immediately removed from the respective app stores on the same day. The reason for the removal is said to be the use of depreciated Twitter API’s by TweetDeck. Meanwhile, the TweetDeck web app would continue to run but would provide limited functionalities.

TweetDeck, which is currently completely owned by Twitter, could be easily re-engineered to support the updated Twitter API’s, but the company decided to call it quits instead. The actual reason for shutdown of TweetDeck would be to move the users towards their own app instead of using third-party apps.
