Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleOnePlus has opened registrations for the ColorOS 17 Open Beta program in India for five smartphones: the OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, and OnePlus 13s. The recruitment window runs from 9th October to 12th October, giving eligible users an opportunity to test the upcoming software ahead of its public release.

The beta program allows participants to try new system features and share feedback with the company. However, as this is pre-release software, users may encounter bugs, performance issues, missing features, and compatibility problems with third-party applications. The program is limited to unbranded Indian units, excluding carrier-locked variants.

How To Apply For ColorOS 17 Open Beta

Eligible users can register directly through their smartphone’s Settings app during the recruitment period. Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings on your OnePlus smartphone.
  2. Navigate to About device.
  3. Tap the Up to date banner.
  4. Select the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
  5. Choose Beta program and follow the on-screen instructions to submit your application.

Once the application is approved, the beta update will be available over the air. Users can check for and download the update by navigating to Settings > About device > Download Now.

Installation Precautions | Backup, Storage and Battery Requirements

Before installing the beta, users should back up their important data. Although a standard OTA update is not intended to erase internal storage, keeping a backup is recommended in case something goes wrong or a rollback becomes necessary.

Devices must have at least 30% battery charge and 4 GB of free internal storage before installation. Users should also be prepared for potential third-party app crashes, increased battery drain, or applications failing to launch until compatibility issues are resolved.

Temporary heating, interface lag, and higher battery consumption may also occur after installation as the system optimizes apps and background processes. According to the provided program guidance, performance may stabilize after the phone remains idle or charges for approximately two hours with the screen off.

How To Roll Back To Stable Version

Users who want to leave the beta program can return to a stable software release using a local installation package. However, the manual rollback process formats the phone’s internal storage, so a complete backup is essential before proceeding.

How To Report ColorOS 17 Beta Bugs

Participants can report bugs, system errors, and performance issues through either of these channels:

  • Dialer feedback tool: Enter *#800# in the stock phone dialer to open the integrated feedback utility.
  • Settings: Go to Settings > Help & feedback and submit the issue.

Reports from beta testers can help OnePlus identify problems and improve the software before a broader rollout.
